We met seven years ago while attending East Tennessee State University. We quickly fell for one another over quiet dinners, a mutual love of horror movies, and a mutual appreciation for fluffy cats, good burgers, and craft beer, and began building our slow-and-steady partnership brick by brick. We moved into our first apartment together in 2015, moved again in 2016, again in 2018, and finally moved into our forever home in July of 2020. Jodi proposed on the fifth anniversary of our relationship beginning at Cape Henry Lighthouse in Fort Story, Virginia. The proposal didn't go quite as planned - we were planning to spend a romantic morning exploring the lighthouse and walking the beach, but we were unaware that the lighthouse was situated on a *very* active military base. Upon our arrival our car was thoroughly searched and our motives for visiting were questioned. Then we were informed the lighthouse was closed for renovations. Thoroughly bummed, we made the absolute best of an unfortunate situation. We drove by the lighthouse to view it from the ground, and walked out to a cute gazebo and dune bridge. After watching the seagulls for a bit, I turned around to find Jodi on one knee and my heart was instantly filled with happiness and adoration. After the most wonderful 5 years of our lives, we were engaged! We planned a beautiful wedding that would include all of our special friends and wonderful sweet family members, but then the world was enveloped in the worst pandemic of all of our lifetimes, and our plans had to change! We desperately wish we could still invite everyone to celebrate with us in person, but public safety must come first. We're so grateful to all of you for understanding this hard decision, and we hope to celebrate with you soon! We are so excited to share this next chapter of our lives with you.
